
Dr. Charles A. Barrett
Senior AssociateAfter thirty years of service with the Conference Board of Canada, Dr. Barrett retired as Senior Vice President, Program Strategy and Delivery, but continues his association with the Board as Senior Executive Advisor. As Senior Vice President, he had oversight of the Board's research publications, conferences, executive networks and international partnerships. Dr. Barrett also acted as Chairman of the Niagara Institute for International Studies.
Dr. Barrett has vast experience managing and implementing projects in developing economies and economies in transition, particularly in Asia. He chaired the APEC Business Management Network, and co-chaired the APEC Task Force on the Human Resources and Social Dimensions of the Asian Financial Crisis. He co-authored APEC's Beijing Initiative, a vision statement for human resource development in the Asia-Pacific region, and has advised on the restructuring of the APEC Secretariat.
After graduating from the University of Toronto, he studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science where he obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in international trade and economic development.
